Planned Ahead

I made an attempt at making a bunch of preemptive moves to envelope my opponent but unfortunately they didn't notice the obvious trap. How could I have done better on the game? (also where did my opponent go wrong?)
It makes more sense to analyse games that you lost.
Your opponent just gave you material 5 b4? 6 a4? 10 e4? and then he does not see the checkmate in one.
In that light it is pointless to criticize you moves.
One Obvious mistake: why did not you take 5...Nxb4 right away and allowed him to rectify his mistake with 6 a3.
I more or less wanted to see what I did right with the game and where my opponent faltered to see how I could avoid that situation myself or take better advantage of it. I understood that this was a very low level game but I felt good about my general set up with my queen, knight, and bishop.
I did see 5 b4? after the match ended and realized that was a mistake as well as noting that I did ok with 6 a4? and 10 e4?.
Also thank you for mentioning 5...Nxb4, I hadn't realized that move because I was a bit too focused on maintaining as much center control as possible.
You developed your pieces which is usually a good thing , and your opponent blundered 3 pawns plus mate which is also usually a good thing.
For you, not your opponent
