Some ban rule(s) a bit harsh maybe...?

Of course those things happen @hruukki1 - once I lost my connection just in the moment my opponent achieved a mate in 1 position and I wouldn't consider myself as an assh***. ;-) However I didn't feel good about that.

Those bans are not meant to concern players having issues in less than say 1 out of 100 games but players who act rude on a regularly basis. That's why I'm very grateful for the Warning-Warning-Warning-Warning-Ban system (not sure how many warnings you can get).

And to the last relativization: You can't always claim victory, for example when they remain in the game and open a new one in the next tab. You are protecting the wrong guys here.
@hruukki1 If the timeout is accidental (like the person forgot to resign or ragequitted in a way that makes resigning technically impossible), I'd not consider the man who does this an asshole, but sometimes it is clearly on purpose when one waits for 2 minutes and then having like 0.1 sec on the clock makes the move that you need to meaningfully answer to defeat him (so you can't just premove and distract from the game).

I agree, although I struggle with your euphemistic way of describing people like that. Assholes? Rather disrespectful towards the hole that, in the end, allows us to keep eating food. Without assholes such fun would end rather quickly.

Just call them what they are, much better:
trash scum ugly coward deserter evil faggot bastards.
I forgot a few qualifications there, but I trust you get the gist.
I once resigned after approximately 30 secs of thinking, because I falsely thought, I could not avoid the mate. In fact, I did have a winning move. People with thousands of bullet games maybe lough about that, but I'm old and slow.
That is, why I don't like these bans and warnings. They put pressure on slow players like me, to resign too early.
@Wolfram_EP

The term "rage quitting" is itself just chess doublespeak for being a childish asshole. Saying "it's not his fault he can't resign, because he 'rage quit' the game" makes no sense. It's saying: He's not an asshole, because he's an asshole.

Things not going your way is never grounds to throw a temper tantrum and throw your toys out the window. All it does is embarrass yourself and inconvenience others.
#25 I agree although most players don't see it that way.
What if someone is winning, say, has mate in one and starts waiting for the clock to nearly run out before making the move? Is that OK?
Sure, unless they slip and lose on time. The opponent is free to resign whenever.
