10 years ago, a novelty in the informant found otb (0/0/0, ACPL 15)

In this tournament game I had forgotten the "theory" after say move 13 resp. I wasn't sure if it was still theory. I saw that the recapturing on e5 with a piece loses a bishop because of the pinning of the a4. After 45minutes of thinking I came to the conclusion that I could win it back with a slight advantage and went for it.

Apparently noone had played that way before that (14.Bxc6, 14.dxe5 were played by GMs) so 14.Ne5!? became a novelty as a game fragment in the Informant 102.

The evaluation of 14.Ne5 has been fluctuating over the years. In the past years it has been the #1 choice of the engines 14.Ne5 was awarded with a "!" in the Informant.

Wonder that the engines nowadays return to 14.dxe5.

Edit: Komodo 11 gives 14.Nxe5 still an edge after 20 minutes (core i7, 8GB RAM, standard settings)
My good old Junior 6 rates 14.Nxe5 as his top choice consistently over various depth. More importantly, whatever Black plays afterwards, Junior's assessment shifts slowly in White's favor (+0.3 to +0.6, almost +/-). The move sets a trend.
