How to destroy or put off Caro-Kann players

The Accelerated Panov Variation, but with a small twist, I'm guessing.
1.e4 c6 2.Nf3 d5 3.d3. I've tried this weapon against some Caro-Kann players, they're pretty aware of it. It can lead to boring endgames very quickly.
I don't know how to destroy, I know how to put off - being positional in nature:

e4 c6, d4, d5. obviously.

exd5, cxd5 - exchange variation.

Bd3 - taking away the diagonal from Black.

Nc3 - aimming for Nb4 - moving the bishop from the diagonal, or taking it.

c3 - preventing Nb4, opening a line for the queen.

Nf3 - preparing Bg4 - reaching the kingside with the bishop.

h3. (the 'correct' move is Bf4 - allowing Bg4)

Now, correct by the comp is e5 - but Caro Kann players rarely choose an open position.
After e5, dxe5, Nxe5, Bc3, comp shows --0.2 - White a bit worse.

> Hello. In my opinion, one of the hardest challenges white faces is caro-kann defense. I have tried over years different types of variations, but caro-kann stands steady in all variations. The only advice I can give is not to try to find early tricks/win-possibilities, but instead try to play for a balanced/drawish position as long as you can, where you try to establish control in the centre, safety for the king, balance in centre, and sound pawn-structure. Just play to hold the draw/balance as long as you can. The possibilities to win might not come until you reach endgame. But there as well it is important to just hold the draw as long as you can. If you are patient you might experience that your opponent break and blunders before you do. Then you can try to win it.

This description seems to me to be exactly the geller - hort game
As a London player, I sometimes get good positions pushing c4 instead of c3 with Qb3 ideas. If he meets Qb3 with Qb6, then push the c pawn and then launch into a minority attack carlsbad style
Accelerated panov works well for me, though significantly below 1700 fide level.

> I know that many French players absolutely despise the exchange variation. I suspect the Carro-Kann players are not very fond of the exchange variation either. Crush their spirit first, then you can beat them on the board :-)

The problem with the exchange in the Caro-Kann is that you give black an extra central pawn in an asymmetric structure. This gives black good oportunities to play for the advantage if white does not know how to handle this structure properly.
This is not the case with the French.

Its a complex question to dismantle the opening. But if you want to dismantle a 1700 player, its a different story.

Caro-Kann players give you the space early, and when you overextend, they break the position and you end up in a bad french like defense.

So you dont overextend. play slow moves e4, d3, etc, develop the knights to d2 or e2, etc.

They will be out of theory in very few moves.

You get no advantages in the opening, but you wont be on shaky ground either. After that, the best player wins.
