How do you guys call long games > 100 moves? In German (in Dutch as well as far as I know) we call it „Seeschlange“ (sea snake).
In contrast to Zugzwang, Zeitnot and stuff this has not found it’s way into the English language!?

I never heard of this word in chess, has to be something was sich unsere komischen Nachbarn ausgedacht haben. :D

I've never heard that word in German honestly ...
Helmut Pfleger used it in the 80's when he had some great chwos on german TV showing chess. I guess this word comes from the southern part of germany cause i heard never someone use this word again.... till today of course....

What of this words has e relation to the game of Chess?

then i guees there would be less then 30% of the people who choose a)....
It goes back to the problem composer Otto Blathy who composed checkmate in over 100 move problems. As those usually contain a single variation of forced moves, the game tree ressembles a legendary sea snake. Later the term came in use for chess games of more than 100 moves.
