@LandyPJY I doubt that... 15+15 is a classical time control, not rapid. :P
@Molurus true lol. yeah actually I am surprised about the change, but for me, it doesn't matter since I prefer no increment anyway.

Many people don't like increments, and most of them stick to bullet, blitz and maybe rapid 10+0. :)
But for those of us who really like the longer time controls, increments are great. It allows you to really play the endings as well.

Increment is part of the rapid chess. If lot of people in the net don't like increment it may be because they are so used to play blitz. I have seen some people playing even 15 0 like 5 0 game trying to flag opponent or complicated things to pressure with time. The point with increment is to end up the games more chess-wise. If you end up on losing position then often you just lose: there are no blitz- or bullet tricks :) 15 0 is like trying to get all those blitzers to join. I prefer 15 10 or longer. Blitz is blitz, rapid is rapid with no chance to flag opponents.

In your last five 15+15 games, you ended the game with respectively:
- 14:04 (12 move loss)
- 05:38 (50 move loss)
- 09:42 (27 move win)
- 10:58 (25 move win)
- 10:46 (21 move loss)
In none of these you got even close to playing on increment;
quite frankly you could have largely played the exact same games in 10+0.
The difference of 5 seconds in increment when going for 15+10, or in "don't have increment, but a longer base time" in 30+0, would come into play.. pretty much never for you.
Are you sure that 15+10 / 30+0 are actually "no alternative", and that you aren't just whining about change for the sake of whining about change?

if I custom choose 15+15 and someone else custom chooses 15+15 will we be paired or do we both need to wait for someone to accept our challenge from the lobby?
I also really want 15+15 back, while also keeping the even calmer 30+20 controls. 15+10 unnecessarily shifts the playerbase of classical players that really enjoyed 15+15 because of the increment either into rapid or almost twice as long games, and should be removed imo
@CrowChess Yes, you will then be automatically paired.
Interestingly they didn't update the mobile app at the same time they made these changes so selecting 15+15 results in a glitch where you are never paired despite it saying it's loading. The new options also aren't present.... great planning 🤔
