Can I get tutored for free?

#7, I'm not FIDE rated but hatchet in #12 is right about "2000 elo being delusional".

White has an advantage at game start. Learning how to make, say, D4 as your opening move doesn't make you good. ELO rating is for winning games, not making a good "first 6 moves" ... lol, anyone can memorize an opening, it takes dedication to improve.

Check out the resources & try the advice in this thread and share your results!

You should also look for local Chess clubs in your area.
It doesn't matter if you are elo 2600 in the openings; if you lose in the middle game or endgame then what does that say about your overall chess strength?

Do not suffer from Dunning-Kruger Effect!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning%E2%80%93Kruger_effect

"...a cognitive bias wherein persons of low ability suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly assessing their cognitive ability as greater than it is"

The only thing that truly matters is your overall chess strength. It will not matter if you obtain an opening advantage in every single game, if you simply lose in the middle game or endgame.
If you wanna test theory you can against me especially for d4. :P

You are only as strong as your weakest link though not entirely true for chess it is 99% accurate.
What a blow to my self confidence :(. So none of you featured two of my best games?

Trap not made by me.
Ino a game I would really want to play this1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4. Ng5 d5
5. exd5 Nxd5 6. Nxf7 Kxf7 7. Qf3+ Ke6 8. Nc3 Nb4
9. d4 Nxc2+ 10. Kd1 but a lot of people won't play the fried liver
If you are weak in the middlegame, you can't be strong in the opening. You can only memorize openings discovered by others, not build them, nor understand them as a 2000.
The game #2 is relatively decent apart from the 2 blunders.
Games #24 & #25 are no real chess games: white plays memorized moves, black falls into a trap, game over.

Free tutoring: try to play games without opening theory e.g. as white open with 1 c3, 1 h3, 1 d3 or whatever. Finding moves for yourself in the opening will benefit your ability to play real chess.
