Why? Just why?

So, I'm not exactly a kid who you would consider "caught up with the news". But I did come across a random post today, which basically said something like "Slaves wore masks in the past, help free our children today. If we don't do something, history will just repeat itself" (Yeah I kinda forgot). Then, it posted a picture of slaves doing work on the plantation back in the 1800's, and posted another picture of children wearing masks today when going to school.

Rant

This is the most ridiculous comparison I've come across in my life (or, since I'm only a kid, will come across in my life for the next several years). Slaves wore masks to symbolize their master controls them. Face masks are to protect you from coronavirus, not because you're being controlled. I can't believe people actually believed that. The same thing can be used for different purposes. Example:
Dynamite can be used to kill people, it can be used lethally. It can, however, also be used to mine for gold, mine for diamonds. So, mining is the same thing as killing people, is it?
Arrggggggghhhhh it's outrageous to me how people are manipulating ideas and concepts like liberty and freedom, and comparing it to something completely different....I want to scream my head off.

I feel like I'm going to get at least a little hate on this thread, especially from a certain user....

I once had a sub teacher who compared getting stuff for other class mates to slavery I’m pretty sure we all cringed even though we were only 5 back then.

@Mystkk I haaven't had a teacher say anything of the sort yet....so I can't imagine a teacher saying that. (Actually, we're encourged to help each other). Like you said, pretty cringe.
