I've been having a bit of doubt as to whether you're allowed to listen to audiobooks that are not chess books such as if you wanted to play chess while listening to your favorite story? What do you think?
You can do whatever you want while playing chess on lichess.org , but if this is a chess related question and not about lichess rules , you can do it unless it doesn't distract you.
Otb: no way.

I once played against a guy who brought a reel-to-reel to the tourney site; he ran some Beethoven (or what have you) through headphones while we played. I was just glad he didn't start conducting.
I always listen to music while playing chess. This includes either Blue Danube, Frank Sinatra Queen or Elton John
