My way of spoiling KID/GID fun successfully

Just a random game played at a tournament at playchess yesterday. I have got an astronomic score against those KID/GID players spoiling their usual fun. As a KID player myself I know what I am talking about.

KID = King's Indian Defence, GID = Grünfeld Indian Defence.
8...b6 cannot be right: makes Bg2 even stronger. 8...Re8 preparing 9...e5 makes more sense.
That's a nice set-up but the engine says it is better for black after the first few opening moves, so obviously not the most critical of lines if black knows what they're doing.
Don’t forget that Richard Reti 1924 had ended mighty Capablanca‘s 8-year-unbeaten streak by means of ... guess what?
Those were the days without computers - nowadays it is much harder to get away with that sort of stuff
Engines, whether or not. The players often are completely bamboozled.

Ah nice! I used to play that line too. It's definitely a very strong practical weapon. If was good enough to beat Capablanca, it should be fine for anyone. ;) One should never underestimate the psychological effect of a different pawn-structure.

That line does not have a direct refutation, and if it forces black to come up with a plan on his own, it is well worth it. In the game, black does not seem to have a clear vision of where on the board he should even play. Playing a whole series of questionable pawn moves (h6, e4, c5) he quickly got into a lot of trouble. Even the initial setup with with c6 followed by b6 and Bb7 is rather weird in my opinion.
Wow the pressure on black was incredible in the middlegame. You were spoiled for choice of forcing lines...not that I would have saw them! I can't follow Stockfish's thought process starting move 18. KIA w/ c4 has been on my to-do list to explore; I think it just moved up.
They all play d6+e5, most players play a5. d5 has also its drawbacks. Even if they get their Knight to c5, then what? I play the variation for say one year and things look bright. Even against stronger players I got decent positions, of course time is a factor as well.

By the way a recent league game of mine against FIDE 2000.
