Lichess, where did the name come from?

What does Lichess mean?

* Is it Li(ght)Chess?
* Li(ve)Chess?
* L(ive)I(nternet)Chess?
Female Lich (undead monster)? (lol! I'd go for this one, because of the sneakiness)

And how to pronounce this?

Cheerio!
Stan

Ps. How to turn on the information during a game that shows the name of what's being played (like; Sicilian defense, King's Gambit, etc)?
Why didn't it show this when I searched forum and FAQ. Thanks for the reply and links :)

I'll leave this up a bit and then delete all (if I can), as it's double post.

I think Lichess acknowledges this as cheating unlike other sites and so doesn't show you until after the game. I agree with this. You should not get any help in a game.
@stan_h The Popular Questions sidebar on the left side of the Question & Answers home page has that question and many more.
@NeverBeenTimid I can't seem to find this after a game either. :')

I don't see this as cheating though. Partly also because I'm very new and partly because playing 10 min games isn't enough time to search the theory and find the textbook responses. (Let alone when they deviate 1 move from textbook, rendering it kinda useless). So for me, this is just to see what's (been) going on and to learn.
{Extra; I think a Master or higher wouldn't need any "help" stating which type of play is going on, as I assume they all know this already by heart, so it only helps low level / new players to learn}.

Why do you think this is cheating? I can understand your pov concerning very long games for sure.

It shows when you click analysis after the game is finished.

I think it isn't good to let players know the opening in a real game because it isn't needed. In a real game do you have someone next to you whispering, what opening you are playing and when it transposes to another? Also some openings include the word "trap" in the name, on seeing this players may tread more carefully in unfamiliar territory.

Also Thibault discussed it in the Lichess discord - His word is gospel.

right. maybe show it during the game also?

thibault - 02/08/2018
no, that would be akin to cheating
because you know when you deviate from theory

sag - 02/08/2018
showing the opening name?

thibault - 02/08/2018
yes

sag - 02/08/2018
i don't think it would be cheating

thibault - 02/08/2018
I'm telling you.
