Losing to poorer players

Why is it that I can get good wins, against good players, and then have a run of losses, especially against lower-rated players?

It could be your attitude, being a little careless when you are in a game where you know your opponent is lower rated.
You might be more motivated to concentrate and play for a win, when playing against a higher rated player.
Then, looking at your blitz and rapid stats, your top wins included rather recent games, while your worst losses are mainly from 2015. So, regarding worst losses and best wins you are improving in both cases.
One thing you can do is to go through your games and try to find patterns. You can do that in real life with chess friends, or a chess coach. Apart from that you can use Lichess Chess Insights tool to get an idea where your wins and losses come from. You can also load your games in software like Scid or ScidvsPC, and then look at statistics.
Your question is about rating, but it could be about playing style, e.g. winning a lot against attacking players, but having trouble with defensive/passive players.

You are probably the best suited person to find out (with or without others) where this bottleneck in your games is.
