When does the tournament start?

Yes, week 1 of the tournament will be 16-22 January UTC, so on the 16th the bracket at challonge.com/qh7lnns1 will be accurate (no longer a preview) and I will notify the participants of the pairings of week 1 (I post them in the Lichess Bots Championship team forum and I send messages to them). The pairings are unknown before the 16th. As you can see in the bracket some bots might not have a pairing in week 1 (and possibly also in other weeks) because a different match has to finish first. When a match finishes, sometimes the bots can already start playing their next match, but they can also wait until the week of that match has started (you can't lose a match by it starting ahead of schedule). Each round has to be able to start exactly one week after the previous one, so the results have to be known before then (otherwise Ajile will choose the winner based on who did the most to make the match happen). Most information and communication (like the results and announcements) will be in the Lichess Bots Championship team forum, so keep an eye out for that. When something is urgent, Ajile will contact the participants.
