It is a new feature, I stumbled up on it the other day, I thought it was one of those computer pop-ups that give you viruses.
I can't get out of dark mode either. The toggle button has disappeared.
I had seen it in the right of the lobby but I ignored it now I can't see it
No no! It is called dark board means when you play any game the board becomes dark
I found the answer to my problem. if you want to get out of dark mode, go to your username at the upper right and click on background. Dark will be highlighted in green, so click on light.
@Yousuf_Haitham this is when dark board mode is on. Switch to transparent or something and you'll see that the button is no more there.
I think if you are on Lichess website, and the theme of your browser is dark/black... and, Lichess is in light mode...then the shortcut appears...you can try it...
@marlsensbudcreame , this is not a new feature, it is only when you click background and dark board. Now you will have this boutton.
My experience (using Chrome) is that the button appears when I am in dark mode, but if I use it then it disappears and to get dark mode back I have to go to the good old-fashioned drop-down menu. I personally do not like the button, nor do I like light mode, but I used it because I wanted to know what colours the messages in my inbox would be in light mode.
