finally reached 2000 in blitz

I'm sure ill go back down but it feels good to see the 2000 mark it was a pain to get
Congrats! I noticed from July - September 2018 you made some huge jumps from 1500 to 1830ish. How did you manage to improve so drastically?

I started playing chess in September and have been slowly working up from around the 1200s. But so far I haven't seen anyone make it to 2000 starting from a really low rating. It seems like they are always already at least 1800ish.
@bkaifeng i was playing exhausted and stoned and drunk a lot of those games... i am since been somewhat sober lol
@dooeyDecimal lol I see. So your baseline rating was basically 1800 in that case. I want to try and find someone at 2000 who was a lowly 1200 at some point haha.
Everyone was a lowly <1200 at some point. My first national rating was 824.
@lovlas You're right, everyone starts as a beginner. I guess what I was mainly talking about - in my (very small sample size) experience, every high rated player on Lichess seems to have had a high starting rating in the first place. It is inspiring to me if I found someone whose progress was logged online, instead of having learned as a kid or through a coach IRL and then joining the site as a strong player. I'm sure it happens though.
Congratulations man! What i see is that most of the people like me, who don't study chess (apart from youtube videos, etc), we always stop our ranking at 1600 tops. Maybe someone at 1700. I doesn't matter how much games and experience we have, is just like our roof, right? what do you think?
@josejuancaselli i don't study i just learned from losing a lot.. i will watch the occasional youtube video but really just follow games from higher rated people
