Weakie Wednesday

Hello dudes. I hope your Saturday is going well.

I see a lot of people asking why their streams aren't showing up on the front page and the answer is apparently because they are not good enough.

I think it is great that Lichess wants to make sure the quality of play in streams is top notch but perhaps you could be doing more to help out up and coming players/streamers. Maybe one day a week (or even a few hours a week) give weak players a chance to feature on the front page? Even chess.com gives low rated players time on chesstv.

+1. Not specifically Wednesdays, but better discoverability of streamers (not filtered by rating) would be nice.
Yeah maybe shouldn't call them weakies either. Just wanted a catchy title for the thread so people read it :p
"Wimp Wednesday" ... hmmmm, nope, that wouldn't work either. Or perhaps "The Rookie Show"?

But anyhow, I support your idea, NeverBeenTimid. :)
Weak players shouldn't stream too much.
It is a privilege that should be left only to players of a certain level... I am weak to intermediate at best , who can learn something by watching me stream? It is just a waste of time and site resources.
@FatesWarning Sorry but that's a ridiculous attitude, there are plenty of reasons to watch lower rated players stream and not every stream has to be educational. I watch streamers who are higher rated and lower rated than myself - there are plenty of high rated players who are poor streamers, and plenty of lower rated ones who are good, and you can get different things out of them. Personally I enjoy talking to people of all strengths - happy to learn from those who are better, and happy to share my own knowledge and experience with those who aren't. Don't assume everyone wants what you do.
@NeverBeenTimid I think this is a good idea. I think the streamer page should filter by last stream and last activity rather than simply last activity, as at the moment plenty of people show up at the top who've either never streamed or haven't streamed in weeks, whereas much more active streamers are often buried way down the page.
This is my point. On @Tempestuous profile he is shown as a Lichess streamer and I had no idea. Tbh I don't check the streamer list and I don't think many others do. I just click on whatever streams are on the front page. Of course it is important to showcase the very best players but doubt it would hurt to give lower rated players a tiny little bit of exposure as well.
There are titled players who get front page who are below 1700 blitz. Food for thought....
