vchess.club : play chess variants

> Dark seems to be quite nice. It reminds me of something I know as ghost (you only see your own figures and an arbieter says wether your intendet moves are possible and when there is a check) but I like this one more by far.

I think you mean Kriegspiel, which used to be playable on ICC long time ago. I agree, I also prefer Dark :)

> Could you please implement a green light or something like that to indicate that you are the one who has to move now?

There is the turn indicator which alternate between black and white on top right of the board (but I will re-design it anyway, there is still some lost space).

> Oh and if you are at that I get the introduction text every time I ticker the homebutton. Is there a way for me not to see that anymore?

Yes, you need to follow the link and read it fully :P ...at the bottom of the modal box there is a message "Click here if you don't wanna see this again".
@okei : wow !! Cool videos, quite unexpected :)) Thanks ! I'm glad you seemingly didn't meet bugs while testing (I hope I haven't re-introduced too many meanwhile).

I don't have time to watch all now (taking a plane soon :/ ), but in the first video at 53:20 after the mating attempt ...Qb4 you also had Qc5+: the queen cannot be captured because it's a self-check (by a checkered queen), neither is ...b6 possible (self-check too) ==> ...Qb6 is the only defense. After than f8=R is possible threatening captures on 8th rank. Black would check with the h1 rook to allow ...Rf7, so it's still complicated.

I'll watch the others too :)
EDIT: after Qc5+ Qb6 a5, the mate threat forces black to try to give perpetual check with the h1 rook (only chance, since if Rb8 moves then axb6=Q+ Kb8 Qc8#). This probably wins for white.
Yea, I think opper explains himself at the end of that first video that I missed a mate, but I need to re-visit it.

I streamed more stuff, but cropped the board wrong so didn't post to youtube. Definitely will be back in the new year to try out the new variants. Checkered was very fun.
at dark chess
I think the vision playing white is not the same as playing black.
Whith white you see the three squares in front of each pawn or even one more if they are at the starting position. You don't see the square in front of you if there is a figure on it.
With black you additionally don't see squares you can hit figures on if there are non on them. They just do not 'light' up (at least in my expirience).
This amounts to the same information, but I really would prefer it to be the one way or the other.

Thanks
Thanks for the report, I've read and spotted the mistake, but I'm without computer for a few days so the fix will wait for about a week :] sorry
hello! @ulath cool that you create new variants on your site my favourite is checkerd.
i had a suggestion for this variant brainking.com/en/GameRules?tp=98 its basicly crazyhouse but if you take something of the opponent you can't drop it on the board only you can take your on pieces and replace it on the board on can promote on the 8th or 1st rank but the pawn falls off the board so for example if a pawn on b7 takes on a8 the rook falls off the board tho and also the pawn and if there isnt a rook and one play b8 the pawn just falls off the board.
thx for adding interesting variants on your site and i hope this variant have a chance to be on your site!
its nice for crazyhouseplayers to have variant like zh only a bit diffrent without theory!
i allready wanna wish you a good newyear if i didnt write you before 2019:).
I love chess variants and I'm so glad that people are starting to make them, I'm trying to make my own in Java and its loads of fun, keep up the good work :)
Cool ideas...

1. Could you have a variant
a) where one has an additional set of pieces already in hand?
b) and pawns too?

2. Where you have nothing on the board, and everything in hand
a) You can place anything anywhere or capture too (even the kings are in hand)
b) Only Kings are in starting position, but white cannot place a check on the first move
