I think chess is not chess with different variants. To improve your chess, I think you should not play these variants. I do not even believe bullet games have improved your chess. Because there is a lot of mistakes. Then you play like this in regular tournaments.
So the best is to play classical.
True, true and true. But bullet and variants are some fun. If you want to get better at chess, then play classical. If you want to have fun, then play whatever makes fun for you.
You are right about having fun :)
I enjoy watching others play variants, but I don't play them.
Bullet can actually improve you, if you don't mind flagging.
About the only benefit of bullet is that you gain confidence in time trouble: if you can play a whole game in 1 minute you should not be afraid of playing 10 or even 20 moves in 1 minute time trouble.
I play lots of bullet and could easily play under 1 minute in 90+30 OTB ( but I lost that game )
And 3+0 for really improve. Classical is too slow and there are people who waits for time out when mate in 1.
If you think that the Bulletin board has developed it, you are wrong. Let's say you played that fast in the tournament, the chances of winning that match are reduced.
