1Minute Crazyhouse Tournaments...are so stupid

Why on earth are there so many 1 minute Crazyhouse tournaments and so few actual real tournaments for CH.

I mean...sure...a program can drag pieces and drop and beat you in a minute...but a real person with real hands...cannot do that. Its tournaments specifically built for bots and for people who purely go for time wins.

Not really saying they should be completely removed...but at least add some more games with real time limits...5:0 3:0 or increments. Hell 15 second games with 5 second increments are plenty to keep people moving and actually have a real game.

Why are there 1 minute zh tourneys? Because quite some people like it. That doesn't mean you have to play it. That's the best part. You can chose what you play.

If you want to play a 15+5 game you can make a challenge in the lobby and wait until you get paired. Or you can create your own tournament with your own time control.

As much as I'm an advocate of slower games and games with increment, crazyhouse is best enjoyed without an increment.

There should be more slower tournaments for ZH.
May be even 2 time controls in same time for tournaments :
one for bullets and fast blitz
and another one for slow blitz and long games.

You should see 30 seconds crazyhouse then.

When I first saw this thread I thought that you meant that the entire tournament was 1 minute long!

But on topic, I think that people can create whatever tournaments they want. If you want longer time controls, then you can create a tournament with longer time controls.

I myself am terrible at bullet anything, so I avoid those tourneys as well.

I agree with you. Judging by the number of blunders/mistakes super pro players do (lichess.org/JIrcvv5e) in a 3 min time control I think that we need even longer games. CH is way more complex than normal chess so let's build up intuition of the game and then play fast.

But majority of people come here not to learn, but to randomly move pieces and feel good about themselves by winning a game and tell that it does not matter when the game is lost. And the faster the time control - the more chances is to say "wow I won the game because I was so smart and fast", and "who cares that I lost the game, another guy was just lucky with time".

This makes no sense at all. Why are there official Lichess-sanctioned tournaments? Would it make no difference to you if the Lichess tournaments in your favorite variant/time control were done away with and you had to create your own tournament in order to play? Of course more people are going to participate in the Lichess one, it is completely disingenuous for you to pretend otherwise.

There is no harm in asking. But "you can play what you want" doesn't work as a reply when in fact what you want is not an option.

Glad I dont seem to be alone in this.

Sure, there should be 1 minute CH tournies, but not 10x more than any other time slot.
