I am trying to remember the name of an old movie ( think it was made for tv as I recall ) . It was about a thief who would break into houses to steal ( cat burgler type no violence ) and in one house he sees a chess board and makes an opening move.
From then on he gets into a chess game with the police were he promises if he loses he will turn himself in. The police get an expert to play him but what they don't know is that he gets a computer to figure out his moves. In the end the expert goes a little nuts because he loses ( the police set up a board and a sort of scarecrow figure as his oppenent ) he flips the board and attacks the scarecrow.
