Is having a study open or previous games open and following them considered cheating?

I hope that it is. Obviously; I have never tried to test it as I dont wanna get marked testing something lol.

But, I'd like to know for my peace of mind that other players arent simply following a study or a previous game they (or someone else) played.

Thanks for the input.
It's not cheating in correspondence games. You have days to decide moves, whose to say you are not allowed to study opening theory during that time?

However it's considered cheating in other time controls, although I wouldn't complain if someone was doing this against me in blitz or faster because they are going to waste a ton of time, and I'll flag them.
But it is impossible to distinguish between this and the memorization of openings, isn't it?

Mais il est impossible de distinguer entre cela et la mémorisation des ouvertures, n'est-ce pas ? Comment pourrait-on déterminer que cela relève de la tricherie ?
@breakreign

i would sure consider having any chess sites in a tab at the same time as cheating

if you want to cheat use a tablet separate from your pc game
@Catastrov

memorising is legal. good luck memorising everything.

like lasker said
he never memorised anything he could deduce logically

@lurarose

so how is correspondence any different than playing a computer

or two computers playing each other

whats the point with such a ridiculously long time control anyway?
