Avoiding Adobe Flash is always good, so if there were some way to implement LichessTV with HTML5/JS that would be ideal.

There used to be one, was removed precisely for the reason #7 mentioned. No-one talked for days on end, and then one person would post a swear word or something stupid and then there would again be no chat after that. It's a nice idea but doesn't work in theory.

That's why it should be an optional feature.
If you don't like the sight of harsh language every time you visit the homepage, you could easily just un-check it ... there, I solved it!

I think team chats are a better option.
Or, a specific chat room on its unique page (e.g.: www.lichess.org/chat) rather than being open on the front page. That way, you'll have to make a small effort to get there -> avoid lazy trolls :P
