Is anyone else pissed at Yasser's spelling of " Niemzowitsch"?
Yasser probably just hates him because he was German.
@NeverBeenTimid if he meant nimzovitch then yes it is annoying the way he misspelled it
He actually explains his reasons for that spelling in his text.
@NeverBeenTimid Aron Nimzowitsch (Latvian: Ārons Ņimcovičs, Russian: Аро́н Иса́евич Нимцо́вич, Aron Isayevich Nimtsovich; born Aron Niemzowitsch; 7 November 1886 – 16 March 1935) was a Russian-born, Danish leading chess master
@Darol he made up excuses for misspelling it
i never saw his bizarro version before today
I remember that A.N. himself mentioned in his book that the ‚e‘ got lost in translation (transscription). So basically this is the „correcter“ name.
No big deal.
Yasser has his ideas regarding chess play. Those ideas propelled him to be one of the very best of his generation.
Call him ... Mr. Pawn grabber.
His commentary , especially despising any engine analysis, is refreshing, highlighted with anecdotes of his experiences. He always gets along with his color commentator, highlighting their expertise.
He does on occasion mention Nimzowitsch, giving him no respect. Proclaiming him the worst chess author of history ! Oh well, we all have opinions, Yasser is from a different school of chess. That's all there is to it. Has absolutely nothing to do with Nimzo being German, as NeverBeenTimid is trying to insinuate.
Personally, I like Nimzo's idea of the 4 elements of chess.
1. Space
2. Force
3.Time
4. Pawn structure (most important)
