a banlist in chess?

In yugioh there is a banlist(forbidden limited list) which forbids certain cards from being played in tournaments. Because if they were allowed then everyone would just play those cards and the banlist forces people to use more unique cards that now have value because they are useful. I wonder if a format in chess with a banlist would be cool? A list that forbids openings such as "the Berlin" the "Italian" and other things as strong. I think this would be cool. Because then you would see openings like "the Scandinavian" and "the alekhine" a lot more. Maybe even as the main openings? I think this would be really cool. And off course it doesn't affect the main format. It would just be a fun way to play lesser used openings that would now have much more value. What do you think?
no. for those people that don’t like the italian, just learn a defense. You can’t just ban openings if they’re too good. People invented them
@Kingscoffee. Thanks. I was really worried that people would hate it. Also in yugioh cards go off and on the banlist from time to time due to things like "new strategies being discovered" "some cards having too high usage rates" ETC. So in chess if the "Scandinavian" became the top used opening against e4 to the point that other openings were almost never played then it would be banned.
@Technoblade69420. It would not affect the main format. Also the format would be designed with the idea to give lesser known and lesser popular openings a chance to shine. Not because people don't like the Italian. Because people don't want to play with the same few openings all the time.
well there are from position tournaments for example if you want to play the Scandinavian just put the position on an analysis board and play from there.
What a terrible idea... they're good for a reason. people want to survive the opening, you know.
If there were special tournaments for it, i wouldn't really care though.
