CHESS PLAYING MONKEY

I heard that there is a chicken that knows how to play checkers so I was thinking could a monkey be able to be trained to play chess? I think so because you could teach the monkey how the pieces move and get him to be an attacking player wanting to capture pieces. However I think the monkey would make totally random moves and would have absolutely no chess skills sort of like the players who are below the 1000 level, lol. I just wonder what the monkeys performance rating would be?

So how many moves would you think it would take you to beat a chess playing monkey?
don't look down 1000 elo ranked players, they DO have chess skills. you would be surprised. they blunder pieces but they are also very creative.

for your question: that depend on how much time the monkey spent on chess. monkeys could learn it a bit if they see some interest to play it like food for example
1000 rated players do not have "absolutely no chess skills", they are less experienced than higher rated players but can usually see many tactics and make purposeful moves. As they get stronger they learn to see tactics more clearly and to have a better sense of strategic considerations and their relative importance in the given situation.
If you want to play against something that plays totally random moves feel free to challenge this bot to a game:
@RandomMoverBot
Note that this bot is rated 800 (except in ultrabullet where it actually wins games by playing quickly) because that is the lowest rating that the system can support, human players rated 800 are much stronger than it.
I was only kidding about the under 1000 rated player I used to be one myself I started playing chess when I was 10 to about 20 years old I have no ideal what my rating was but my guess it would of been under 800 at 10 and by the time I was 20 it probably was around 1200 because when I started playing chess again at 40 my rating was around 1200 on the Chess Master game. My highest rating on CM was around 1450 so I still have yet to hit 1500 on that game or on here its at 1449 now as I write this. I hope to hit 1500 on the game and on here this year.

I created a monkey playing character on my CM game and it is rated at 400 on that game. It does not totally play random moves I had it know 1 opening and it is programed to grab pieces but not with much regard for strength of the piece but it does know the queen is the best piece.

On bullet it does play at a much higher level over a 1000 because it makes its moves instantly so it can beat you on time if you don't put it in check mate.

I hate to admit it but I have lost to the monkey playing bullet.

I think you could probably teach a monkey or some other intelligent animals to play chess. Ravens are able to solve puzzles that require 8 or 9 steps of planning so I think it's at least feasible that you could teach one to play. There are animals who have comparable cognitive capacity to a 4 or 5 year-old at least, and you can teach kids younger than this to play chess.
