Kindness

So I just began an atomic game, with a 0 + 1 time variant, against a player who I had never met before. 2 Moves into the game, I unfortunately disconnected. Now obviously, I thought that I had lost. Any player who's random opponent (who is 200 rating points higher by the way) disconnects from the game, would be happy for the free rating points, right? Or at least, that was what I THOUGHT... I reconnected to my wifi network, and returned to lichess, only to find that I was STILL IN THE GAME. My opponent had continuously added time to my clock until I returned. Rather than taking the easy rating points, he decided to give me a second chance at the game.

So who is this mystery hero?

^ Thank you for being such a kind person. The world needs more people like you :)

This is what sets Lichess apart.

It would be a fantastic thing if the entire community would understand how good this kind of thing is for Lichess, and get onboard.

it's just a virtual rating by the way. I don't care personally. If the opponent disconnects, i wait 30 secs and start anew game (and claim the victory later). Some people are just trolls that will abandon the game as soon as they think they are losing and the few who aren't (like OP) should not be worried about the rating
hmmmmmm, 2200 in correspondence and 1500s blitz. :D I'd say someone is worried about their virtual rating. ;)
The notion of "kindness" is not only beneficial to Lichess moving forwards...but it's that exact spirit that created Lichess in the first place.

Someone did us chess players a big favour and showed us a big kindness creating this spot.
It's perfectly appropriate that that we pay it forward and make Lichess the best spot on the planet in the process.
my correspondance rating is highly inflated, even if it was 3000 i would not care. It's a fake rating (especially the correspondance one where i can move the pieces, consult opening books, consult games in the database). But surprisingly people play "blitz" even in correspondance (i mean that don't seem to exploit the 2-3 days per move advantage, and play quickly anyway).
