Whenever playing black against c4 I feel like I get outplayed in positions the other player knows better. Anyone have any interesting pet lines?
Yeah, of course. 1. ... b6(!) does the job. Ask Sasha Grischuk.
Vishy´s 1...e5 and 2..Bb4! on 2.Nc3 is not bad either (idea: play ...c6 and ...d5). I score well with it.
Against c4, maybe play King's Indian or in short play Nf6. This is what I do.
1... Nh6 !
The opponent will go crazy.
1...b5 !
Escape from the routine!

Resign! A very unique approach
The accelerated Keres variation is what I hate to see as an English player. Dangerous Weapons - Flank Openings has it under "Kostenites".
1...e6 with idea to play in queen gambit declined style even if white did not play d4 is a solid alternative.
very open line is e5, is reversed sicilian defense, and like normal sicilian is very aggressive for black, is very interesting studying this c4 line....!
1...e5! does it.
