I see cheating people

How often do I see them? All the time.

Cheaters are becoming sneaky, they don't have to cheat all the time, just at a particular move or sequence. It's easy to camuflate. Or maybe I'm just too paranoid and it's normal guys 300 points below suddenly start to play like Kasparov 1 second per move...

Is this really happening or it's just me? It happens so many times that I'm not even reporting anymore. Before cheating was obvious, you looked at those games and there were no imprecisions, no blunders, etc, over and over... but now it's difficult to prove.
I think honestly dont be bother about it, when it come to see cheater we see them everywhere. Just play and dont think about it if there is someone than learn and progress from computer moves it will be you not them.
1. Could be your paranoia
2. Could actually be someone cheating

One thing is certain, endless threads complaining about it in the forums won't help anyone. Especially when people who are complaining have never reported anyone.

Instead, you should just use lichess.org/report
Cheating has not gotten worse, Mods just got lazy.
JK sometimes when I loose I start seeing cheaters everywhere too. Especially when I play a low level opponent and take the win for granted and he plays well for his level and beats me.
It's a complicated topic, for sure. Fortunately, there are a number of important points that are helpful to focus on:

1. The number of honest players on Lichess far outweighs the number of cheaters. It isn't even close. If that wasn't the case, I wouldn't be here.

2. Cheaters are doing the most damage to themselves. They are hindering their own development as chess players and they are cultivating personalities of deception (which is far more significant than anything to do with a board game, however wonderful it may be). If you know someone cheats at chess, would you trust him to be honest in a business deal? I wouldn't.

3. You have total control over your own integrity. It sounds stupid on some level, but it's important: No one can force you to cheat ever, and being honest is its own reward. I have never once cheated on Lichess and I never will. For what it's worth, I've even posted that fact on my profile.

4. If you are very concerned about cheaters, it isn't hard to find honest players on here, befriend them, and play your games only against those players you trust. As I've stated, I have never once cheated on here and never will. I'm happy to play a game with anyone; if you want to play, I'm willing.

5. If you suspect someone is cheating, say nothing, either to the player in chat or elsewhere. Do an analysis on the game afterwards. If that one game makes you more suspicious, then do an analysis on 10 more recent games in the player's history. If things still look fishy, file a report to the mods, including your findings, and then move on. With a large percentage of honest players doing this (I'm one of them), it is inevitable that a cheater will be detected, usually sooner rather than later.

I hope this helps.
It's all about the ambience or space we have around us. Like driving a car or being behind a computer.

When no body is looking, things happen differently. Like when there is a radar and when there is not. The speed of our car changes. Traffic slows when there is a radar pointing towards us.

The ambience of on line chess needs to include that controlling radar effect.
The network icon strength is helpful. So is the green dot beside the anonymous name.

I think, if a chess player uses browser add-ons, then they should first get paired by others fitting similar features.

@bufferunderrun Feature request : Is it possible to ...

1) Pair the players that do not have browser add-ons together and then pair the other players with the rest that have browser add-ons.
2) Match similar equipments together. .. example: Laptop vs laptop, tablet vs tablet, Browser vs same version browser, OS vs same OS ... etc.

I think this could help level some of the playing fields.
I don't think any of this is feasible. Pretty sure it's going to be difficult to find anyone with a vanilla browser, most don't have an integrated adblocker for example. Unless you meant engine assistance, in that case marked users already get paired with other marked users.
@Toscani I guess you're thinking is that cheaters are often using browser add-ons? I'm not sure at all that's the case. I would guess a lot of cheaters use a chess app on their phones, which (of course) isn't detectable. I'd dislike the feature you're requesting here: I really don't care if someone is playing me on the same operating system (for example) and I don't think such a feature would address cheating in any meaningful way.

Again, cheaters on here are a small minority of the players. That said, if you are really concerned about cheating, the best approach would be to develop a roster of players you trust and play exclusively with them.
@bufferunderrun Some years ago, I would receive almost every week a message "you lost to a cheater, here's your points back". It's troublesome to report someone, you have to go through several games of the player and detect a pattern, so I would do it only if I was really sure it was a cheater. And those who I reported more often then not were banned, but the most common scenario was to receive that message about players I did not report.

But, lately, maybe since a couple years, this stopped working. Reports get ignored and I never received that message anymore. I don't even remember when was the last one. So, why bother having so much trouble to "gather evidence" and report, if it is going to be ignored? Maybe you can prove me wrong with some data, do you have the statistic of people being banned throughout the years? What is the percentage of reports that turn into a ban? Did this change in any way in the last couple of years?

I agree with @Toscani ,and I thought for a long time lichess had an amazing anti-cheating system, but now I'm not sure. The system relies only on those reports? At first I thought the system was detecting cheating independently. If cheaters get the sense the system isn't working, they keep cheating more and more...

I cannot provide you with statistics, but I can assure you that we do look at all the reports in the queue and are not ignoring anything.
