Leaving the game in a losing position

I got temporarily play-banned plenty of times for "stalling" in games when I was new to Lichess, because my internet kept disconnecting.

Unless it's changed, I do believe Lichess reinforce the "No-stalling" rule
At least you play blitz this is a lot worse in classical.

It looks like you were fooling around in this game as much as the opponent.
A variation on the theme that I have seen is when there is a about to be a forced mate. The losing player, having playing too quickly, has gained a lot of increments and has as much time as he started with. He then allows the clock to run down to a few seconds before playing the move that permits the mating reply.
There is no punishment for playing two games at once. You can just start another game if that haapens.

I try ;) I don't flip out in-game (not at the opponent anyway, maybe at myself when I do something dumb LOL). Yes I did ramble a bit on here. That does not mean that I am not allowed to say that the behavior is frustrating, which is just the truth. I don't think that's saltiness, but agree to disagree I guess.

Reading all you people's answers, the conclusions seem to be:
- Lichess does enforce the ban.
- When it happens, just relax. Or do something else in the meantime. Or, if you want you can try and report your opponent.

Fair enough. In any game, toxic behavior is gonna happen. Chess isn't better than any other online game in that regard, that is for sure, haha. I was under the illusion that it was for some reason when I started playing; I was being naive.

I think also playing until checkmate is totally fine for our level, I have blundered stalemate a significant amount of times, for example. However, this behavior is just frustrating. Some people even stay online so that you cannot claim a win and just let the clock run out!? Lichess gives you a warning that you get a temporary ban if you do this frequently, but I can hardly believe it is properly enforced given the number of people doing it. (I did get the warning myself a couple of times, because I get to thinking about what to do and lose track of time, which is my bad.) So, my questions would be:
> 1. What do people actually achieve doing this? Is it a point of pride not to resign? Is it just out of pure spite? This is a game, stop being salty.
> 2. Does Lichess actually enforce the warning?

I cannot stand people who just leave without resigning or playing on in a game that is dead lost. So selfish!

That's even worse leaving a classical game. :/
i do think it depends on chess lvl. Stronger players try something and if there is no counterplay they just resign. My best performance was against a GM ragequitting but stronger players just resign even with 5 seconds left in an easy lost position. If i am logged in rarely i get somebody who stops playing.
Less than 5%.

If i do not log in and play a few quick games against other anomynous players i think around 30-60%!!!!! just leave game in lost position.
