Masks not deemed necessary in the U.K.

It is pretty obvious that the media is hiding any good news about the Coronavirus, like all the people that have gotten over it. Thanks for sharing @Kusokosla

Ha, I was looking through some news on the Coronavirus and I found an article on why more men are dying because of the Coronavirus. The article started with: ‘When it comes to survival, males are the weaker sex’.
When you look at the author, their credentials stated: Author of the upcoming: ‘The Better Half: On the Genetic Superiority of Women’.
I just found the article hilarious.
By the way, don’t think I’m against feminism or anything, I just think this article is taking it too far.

Wow, China has done pretty great.

@MathematicChess The measures China undertook would be considered totally draconian in most parts of the world, but they were definitely effective (assuming their reports are to be believed). India will do well copying their model (if they maintain what they're currently doing). Things won't be over any time soon though - in particular, when travel restrictions start to be removed, people will come back into China.

Yeah, they were definitely trying to hide the virus initially and were underreporting, keeping that whistleblower who was silenced in mind. It is too bad most Americans probably won’t accept a literal shut down like that...

Americans are already very unhappy with the comparatively minor restrictions from what I've read. I think the Chinese-level shutdowns wouldn't even be considered constitutional, but I don't pay much attention to American politics, so I have no idea.

The health authorities should have assumed there was substantial asymptomatic spread of Sars Cov 2 until it was proven there was not. They screwed up by underestimating it badly. Wearing masks from the start would have lowered the R0 and probably have saved thousands of lives. They've finally gotten around to admitting their mistake.

Even the Surgeon General is showing people how to make a simple mask on the CDC youtube channel now.

Masks are not a bad idea UNLESS you don't wash your hands before and don't fiddle with them while they are on. They will not harm you.
The purpose of the mask isn't to protect you, it's to protect others from your droplets. Yes, they don't protect again covid-19. But they prevent you from infecting others.
