Leaving the game without resigning (revisited)

This has been up before, but I sense this is a growing problem.

Half of the players leave when they lose, and I get to wait until their time reaches zero.

I would be very greatful if Lichess implemented more strict rules about this. Or as suggested earlier, a counter and a warning flag, and an option to avoid players with this flag.

Or any other solution that will actually prevent this recurring thing.

Any thoughts?
My usual solution is to make sure that I never play against losers, which I've been able to do for at least a week in a row now.
I blocked that kind of players before, the amount reached 200 !
I think that's why I've been banned for about 2 weeks.
The punisher was punished !
I also block people who just quit without resigning. And I don't understand why it is so hard to click that button. Mean people just bully others. =(
@frankie-goes

Wait, you were banned for blocking too many people? I'm new and I've been blocking people quite a bit (mainly those who quit playing and let the clock run out in a lost position). I've been loving that feature (I only ever played at FICS and there was a limit on the block list).

Did they tell you why you were banned?
No, they didn't. In fact, I suppose I was banned because when I created a game, nobody took it, even after a very long time, which usually never happens. So I had to play as anonymous if I wanted to play. That lasted about 2 weeks.
For now, I have blocked only 17 players, because of their bad behaviour. Happily, some players are very nice !
I add that I could play with my name in the case I took someone else game.
I'm wondering if this is something mods and admins don't "get" because they tend to be higher ranking players (1800+ lets say) who face other higher ranking players who tend to pretty consistently resign instead of letting time run out when losing.

It seems to me (from memory on this site and others) that running out time in lost positions is indeed a common occurrence for lower rated players, and should (so it seems) be dealt with more severity due to the intrinsic impoliteness and general non-benefit of the problem. In other words, letting time run out seems not to really benefit anybody and is clearly unprofessional/rude/wasteful/etc., and if it is not so clear to a player a quick email/dm could explain the issue quickly and cleanly enough to the ignorant players in question.

Related, I would love to see the same transparency that lichess uses with open-source code be adopted with rules & punishments for bad behavior, as confusion and anger tend to thrive "in the dark". If these punishments were informed by polls of the playerbase, so much the better overall IMO.

I too would also like the option to preemptively avoid players with behavior & time-out problems if possible, as suggested in #1. Not only would this be a fair way to have a more pleasant experience, it would also disincentive bad behavior, especially if it was made the default option.
I got into the forum to post something about this. I absolutely agree with the frustration expressed; I try to report every player that does this but I don't know if it's doing any good.

A big part of the problem is that lichess allows starting a new match before resigning your current one. That has to be revised.

#2 - What do you mean by this?
