I see that in forums that are not related to chess, that are in the proper "off-topic discussion", that is NOT RELATED TO CHESS.

I'm almost afraid to start a non-related-to-chess discussion because as soon as it starts getting hits, they close the topic.

Maybe I'm being paranoid but I have had all my forums closed.

Well, maybe there is a good thing about this. I'm the "This topic is now closed." forums champion.

Have you had yours closed?
I didn't know that they "close or get archived automatically", it makes sense, what doesn't make sense is when it generates a lot of comments and somebody gives his opinion that the discussion is getting out of hand, or that it is politics or, the most stupid comments in my opinion, that it has "nothing to do with chess". Even though you are in the "no chess forum", somebody invariably makes a comment like that...
@SamuelCaplan

It seems that as far as non-obviously offensive threads go,when the discussion starts to become circular ,or if it's a thread that canvasses a subject that has umpteen other clones out there,that's when it closes.
Maybe that is so, @bunyip, but, why close a topic because it is circular? I somebody feels that just don't come to the discussion, o the other hand, why not let the users choose freely? I can see closing one if the insults are growing, I respect and recommend that, however, I've had political discussions where everybody was stating opinions, their own opinions with no insults, a diversity of arguments, enriching culture and they close them!

Trump is in the news everywhere, but lichess seems to be afraid of the polemic posts...
