How to get lichess followers?

I made a blog post about this: lichess.org/@/ErinYu/blog/how-to-ask-for-followers/If9gn4jP.

Just be chill, kind and always be active. I used to have a lot of followers, but due to inactivity I lost a lot. Also, contribute to the community, like becoming a member or putting out useful studies, like @leninperez . Also try to be very good at chess. People here always tend to follow people who are good at chess because they look up to them or admire their intelligence.

i think most people like to follow people who they can tell love the game and show good sportsmanship......such as giving the other guy a rematch if he loses..... etc. etc ......

Actually, can someone explain to me what is the point of following someone, or getting followers? Recently after a game I received a notification that my opponent is now following me. What happens now?

How to get more followers? Does it really matter? I’d suggest not asking for followers but be a real person that people maybe like - because you actually engage with them. This isn’t FakeBook or Twatter. The real competition is to beat your opponent not get 1000 likes for some inane comment or because you like Magnus Carlsomebody.
