finlip at Bhopal International GM tournament

The first round was against a player rated 601 points less than me. I was down to 2 minutes on the clock after 26 moves. I don't know how I was able to win in the end. It feels like it will be difficult to win any more games.

The second round will be against an Egyptian IM rated 2329 with a peak rating of 2408. If I can avoid defeat against him, I'll stake my claim at the category prize for players between 1500 and 1800 rating.

Second round game against IM Ameir Moheb has now been added to the study. It ended just now. I thought he might play the Nimzo Indian but he played the Gruenfeld. I played the Russian system and played 8Bf4 instead of 8Be2. After 8 Be2 b5, I would have played 9 Qb3. In the game I played 9 Qb3 even after 8 Bf4 b5. I should have probably taken on c7. My preparation was not adequate. I looked into a Gruenfeld line he might play but forgot to look at the second most probable Gruenfeld. I missed an opportunity to give some resistance to an IM. I hope I get more opportunities later in the tournament. Today is day two, there are two rounds. The next game starts in just three hours.

There were two rounds on the second day. I lost both rounds with both colours. The opening was the Gruenfeld Defence: Russian System in both games.

Four rounds over. Only 1.5 points so far. Six rounds to go. Two rounds on day 4. Then one round each in the next four days.
