Ultrabullet is not chess

@WallaceTwo thanks, im the type of the guys that dont play so fast in ultrabullet, but dont gift pieces too much and search how to threat a checkmate or a piece, i like ultrabullet
Well, it depends on what we mean by “Chess”. One can argue that “Chess” can only be two people, playing head to head, in an enclosed room (definitely no electronics), where each player has two hours (or more) to make 40 moves, followed by one hour to make 20 moves until the game is over.

From this, we could argue that rapid Chess is one Chess variant, blitz Chess is another Chess variant, and bullet Chess is yet another Chess variant. Chess960 is also a Chess Variant, as is any variant with Fairy pieces (Capablanca Chess, Grand Chess, Embassy Chess, etc.). What makes one rule set (or time control) “Chess” or not “Chess” is in the eye of the beholder.

If you were to ask me, I say Classical Chess is Chess, Correspondence Chess is Chess, Blitz/Bullet/Ultra-Bullet are all Chess, Chess960 is Chess, Capablanca Chess is Chess (albeit with an edge for White), Crazyhorse is Chess, Grand Chess is Chess, and so on.

But others may feel some or all of those variants are not real “Chess” — I draw the line at changing the move of the Pawn (since how Pawns move is a big part of Chess strategy) or changing the number of players (since 3-player and 4-player Chess have diplomacy issues 2-player Chess doesn’t), but think Berolina Chess, Shogi, Xiangqi, Janggi, Makruk, and so on are all really great Chess Variants (and some of them are the “real” version of Chess for many players).
UltraBullet is a fast variant of chess. Although some people may disagree with UltraBullet being a variant of chess, it is a variant as everything except the time limit is the same, which is fixed very low.
