I was once in a gathering of people where we did the boring, yet tried and true, go around and briefly introduce ourselves with an interesting tidbit or anecdote.
It was interesting, if a bit anodyne. Until this one big, gregarious American stood up:
"Hi, I'm Dave. I used to be in the Peace Corps, stationed in South Korea. Eating dog gives me the best erections of my life. I was also kicked out of the Peace Corps - buy me a drink and I'll tell you the story."
Then he sat back down like he said nothing out of the ordinary. Everyone was either flabbergasted, shocked, or amused, but I remember most the face of the next person in line and she was absolutely bewildered about how to follow-up on that introduction!
