I would like to see some progression graph from beginers to the 2000+

Why do most 2000+ players on Lichess start their graphs at 2000+ Elo?

I enjoy looking at the Elo progression graphs of players on Lichess. However, I’ve noticed that many players with 2000+ Elo seem to start their graphs already above 2000, unlike players around 1500 Elo, whose graphs often show a more gradual progression from their early games.

Does anyone know why this happens? Is it because expériences players already have high skill levels when they join, or is there something else at play? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Here you go @FaustiOro

And it is because improving at chess at a low level is much easier than at a higher level. To improve from like 1000 to 1500 is much easier than getting from 1500 to 2000. That said there are a lot of players who started <2000 for a while and then improved to that level
Yes, it is mostly people don't improve as much as they think they should... and improving when already strong is much harder.

If you start fresh, it is no magic to go from 1000 to 1500. And some of them improve further towards 2000 and above, but the number of players who actually manage to do this is small, so the chances of randomly looking at their profile is small.

My guess is that it is generally pretty rare to see profiles with huge increases at 2400+. If it were easy, we had much mire titled players IRL.
likely find that a bunch of people that started low, and worked their way up, decide to start a new account, with a high rating.

The graphs show the rating at the end of the day. So if someone joined lichess, played a few games and got to 2000 the same day, then the graph shows their rating as started from 2000.

This is awesome! It's exactly the kind of graph I was hoping to see!
Still, it's a bit discouraging to see him progress so quickly and so consistently.

In the past, I tried looking at random 2000+ profiles, but their early progression (from 800 to 2000 Elo) is often missing from the graphs. I agree that progression for players rated above 2000 generally looks less impressive visually.

I think so too !

That's interesting! It's not your peak rating of the day but the rating at the end—when you're already tired. Haha.
So a new 2000+ account does not start at 1500 but usually at 2000

If you don't play for some time, your rating deviation grows as your rating is considered less reliable. Therefore each result affects your rating more for some time until the rating is seen as more stable (and reliable) again.
@pranavimatram Deleting comments that someone replied to is very annoying, the reply then often looks weird if it didn't quote the deleted comment.
