c4 d4 or e4

All openings are equal, just depends on your engine.

@theTestoftheWest. " d4 is NOT the best. all 3 are equal". he has no proof. not that I even said that d4 is the "best". I just said I choose it because it's the only pawn move alpha zero ended up playing as white.

In my honest opinion, when I play 1. c4 I tend to think I'm being clever when really I just end up in supremely boring positions where the pieces are symmetrical on both sides. I tend to play 1. e4 these days because it opens the game right up and there are so many possibilities.

"1 d4 dull & drawish" - Fischer
AlphaZero after 700000 games against itself came to prefer 1 d4, mainly because of the Berlin Defence against 1 e4.
Caruana in his match for the World Championship played 1 e4 exclusively, so he must have concurred with Fischer, but he got nothing against the Sicilian.
Carlsen in the same match alternated first 1 e4, then 1 d4,, then 1 c4, but got nothing out of it either.

It is all the same.

Probably even more moves besides 1 e4, 1 d4, 1 c4 also lead to a draw and are thus objectively equivalent.

That's your opinion then. SF is currently stronger (rating wise) and plays e4 a bit more frequent. Dragon plays e4.
Also in human databases all of them score quite equal.
