Monthly Patron Tournament

Can we start a Patron only tournament for members who donate to keep lichess.org going? With a monthly Patron Trophy?

Probably not. On Lichess, all users are equal. Whether they donate or not. Exclusive access to tournaments with trohpy prizes would be against this principle.

All users are equal?! Ok... what about "elite superblitz arena" for 2200+ users? Patrons tournament it's the same thing.

We have more 'under X' tourns than we have 'over X' tourns.

If you follow that logic, and want to have patron tourns, then we also need non-patron tourns.

I am also suggesting Porsche and non Porsche tourns. The Porsche tourns are exclusively for people which drive a Porsche, and the Non Porsche Tourns are exclusively for people who dont drive a Porsche.

In the Porsche tournament, I'm guessing you would have a half dozen participants playing each other over and over, so suggest that this tournament be 17 minutes long at 2 + 0 time control...because speed and all...

#5 I don't agree that separating users by rating pools and donations is the same thing. Chess is a game of skill. Rating tries to measure that skill. If you can't separate users due to rating then what's the point?
