Notation change request for move captures.

Normally when moves record captures you see something like Nxc6. This looks very clumsy because it's not necessary when playing over games. I prefer the simpler way of showing captures in the notation by just noting the move Nc6. If there is a piece that's being captured when playing over the move then marking a move with the x makes the notation look cluttered. Just a simple option in the settings to allow move captures be simplified to remove the x symbol would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

FIDE Laws of Chess:
"C.9 When a piece makes a capture, an x is inserted between a) the first letter of the name of the
piece in question and b) the square of arrival. Examples: Bxe5, Nxf3, Rxd1.
When a pawn makes a capture, the file of departure must be indicated, then an x, then the
square of arrival. Examples: dxe5, gxf3, axb5. In the case of an ‘en passante’ capture, the
square of arrival is given as the square on which the capturing pawn finally rests and ‘e.p.’ is
appended to the notation. Example: exd6 e.p."

My request noted this was for an option to remove the x format to make the chess notation look cleaner. I don't see how offering this option infringes on the FIDE chess notation rule.

What???? It infringes on the chess notation rule because it doesn't follow the rule. Did I miss some key element of logic here?

The notation rule for FIDE is for written chess notation logs for people playing in OTB clubs using pencil and paper. My request is only for adding an option to remove the x when recording the moves. This won't stop you from continuing to see the x symbol when you see the chess notation on game logs. It simply allows me and others who don't use the x symbol to declutter the chess notation. I might also point out that Chess Informant also doesn't use the x symbol in their monthly publication either.

@Curious1 that is horrible, we already have too much confusion with wrongly copied move. I thought chess informant was highest quality, what a let down.

Chess Informant has always had the distinction of noting the moves without the x. My request doesn't do away with it. It's an option in the settings only.

#6 Chess informant as a printed book tries to cram more information on less pages. They do not only omit the x, they also shorten exd5 to ed. They could shorten even more: 1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Bb5 to 1 e4 e5 2 Nf Nc 3 Bb

Actually the almighty Informant doesn‘t use x or :

4. Bc6 dc6!

That‘s the way the pros note.
