People leaving game and not resigning

Hello everyone,

I come to you to talk about these kind of behaviours.
I'm exhausted, this seems to be a increasing trend and I wanted to have any other opinion on that matter.

I recently saw the feature on your profile that says how many games you ended without leaving (as percentage). How is that possible that people below 80% have the right to play on this site ? That means they leave 1 game out of 5, that's huge! I know it could sometimes be related to internet issues, but wouldn't that be easy to check with a simple bot ?

The feature that allows me to claim victory after my opponent leaves is a good thing, I couldn't imagine having to wait 15 minutes for the game to end. However this comes with a feeling of frustration. I don't even care if I win or lose, I just want to play chess and enjoy games.

I'm very aware that these childish behaviours can't be 100% deleted, but I've been playing exclusively on this site for 3 years now and today's trend is worrying. Like I said, I've never crossed so many quitters than in the past month.

I'd like to hear any opinion, maybe I'm wrong and maybe I'm the only one seeing the trend.

Thanks!
I agree that people with a trend of leaving is ruining every game site. The percentage banning is a good idea. The problem with banning is that the user can just rejoin under a different name, although this would discourage some.
I only face it when I challenge it. Players with higher ratings don't always want to play. That's OK. Sometimes before the game starts I have to see up to 3 breaks. I see you have a rating of less than 1600 so many believe that playing with you will not learn anything new. However, if you want to learn on your own, play tournaments and challenge players above your ranking. This will give you an analysis of the game played and you will be able to learn from the experience of tactical ideas and plans of the game.
This thing looks to me like it have gone worse. It's sometimes like every second game someone leave without resigning. It takes away the fun and causes anger. Ignoring such players doesn't help because there are countless of new players behaving the same way.

I think maybe being outside the tab or offline for more than 10 seconds can give an automatic loss. Also abandoning a game in a losing position could give bans for a day or week and if repeated give a permanent ban.

Also if it have not yet been done, this counter-intuitive behaviour of the resign button that needs to be clicked twice could be changed so a one-click give a resign.
Look I agree, I really do think its childish, but its not something thats exausting to the point of banning players with completion under 80%. 10 seconds offline max? Cmon. Myself, I HAVE TERRIBLE INTERNET, do you even know what 500 Kbps means? Its annoying because sometimes Im disconnected on a winning position, alright no problem, lose a few points, its not a life or death thing, but now getting banned for that would be seriously frustrating.
Of course its not your fault I have terrible internet, but Im not doing it on purpose trust me, but yeah I agree something should be done, I play on Pokerstars and the website can differentiate between a player who is just wasting time and someone who got legit disconnected, sometimes adding up to 120 seconds for disconnected players to "come back", but only 10 seconds for players who are there and wasting time to make the money, so maybe something similar to that would be better for everyone.
Cheers guys!
A very simple way of handling this is to force quiters to play with quiters. If a player reaches a quiter's threshold (should be kept secret so people don't abuse it, like 1 in 5 games) then they must complete 2 full games for every game they left with known quiters. That way these people can taste their own medicine.

This method of matchmaking has been proven effective with cheaters in other games. Example, first person shooters aimbot users hate playing against aimbot users.

If you know your internet is bad then you should play a slower timed game. I was forced to limited 256-512K internet on my phone for a few weeks I simply adjusted my games to make sure to not inconvenience the other player. There is a clear difference between bad internet and those who make a huge blunder and quitting for the rest of the game. Especially when the quiter starts a new game immediately after the game is over.
I never abandoned a game and yet I have completion rate 93%
I don't get it don't know how it is calculated and yet I'm supposedly not finishing my every 10th game? Really?
And according to your criteria here I would already be on the verge of being banned !
@RasicAll
Could be that they also count if you abandon games before they start.

And also, are you sure you are really resigning? The resing button needs to be pressed two times unless you change a setting for it. At least that is how it was before.
Nauge, I've noticed this quite a lot as well. I've had quite a few of my opponents leaving the game and I have no idea whether it's a wi-fi problem or whether something else is interrupting their game. I've left games as well but I try to tell my opponents beforehand that I have to go so I usually try to offer a draw but when that doesn't work, I resign. I currently have a game completion rate of 93%.
people leaving shudnt b a problem. u get awarded a win and the points with it. neither shud people ho let the timre ran out. theu can do it according to chess rules..but then they also get a loss and minus points 2 rating
