Losing rating points in tournaments for not moving

I was playing a super low rating in a tournament but my computer glitched and i wasn't able to play a move. I lost a ton of rating points for that, but i think that isn't fair. in tournaments, if you can't play a move, you lose rating points and get a loss in the tournament. I think it's fine to get a loss for not moving, but your rating shouldn't be affected.

I agree; un-played games should not be rated. Using a rating loss as punishment only hurts the future opponents of that player.
@InkyDarkBird yes but the it said the program of google chrome wasn't responding and all i could do was exit the website or wait until it worked, and the game ended before i had time to do anything
There's a problem with making unplayed games unrated in tournaments, let's say for example a 1800 player was paired with a higher-rated player, let's say 2000, the 1800 player can just not play the first move if they think they will lose to that player and lose rating points.

There are also unrated tournaments. Try those if you can't make sure to make your first move.
