How can the community mitigate players leaving midgame without resigning and wasting time?

Does anyone have ideas to help reduce the occurrence of players aborting mid-game? Often, after a player aborts, the time runs for several minutes bf a victory or draw can be claimed. Then the message of 'a temporary ban will be placed on x player' only to see them fire up a game immediately after aborting. Perhaps there is no immediate solution but it is frustrating. Any thoughts or ideas?

I would suggest to let them do a task, like doing a set of mark all the fields with cars. This way, they have to waste some time, just like the player left behind in the game.

Or maybe we'll have to make that people playing correctly receive a good note... and then parameter the games so that a solid community is formed. It is not very cool, not the universal spirit which is necessary, but the players are also a reflection of societies nowadays :/

Perhaps the temp ban, if it were actually done would help a little. And it only has to be a 3-5 minute ban, just enough to be a slight annoyance roughly equal to the time wasted for their opponent. Thanks for the input.

Not from what I've witnessed. The player will 'receive the ban' and then I click their profile only to see them playing a game immediately. Many times I have noticed this and I myself have received the ban accidentally and then played a game immediately after. You are now temporarily banned, for three seconds. A five to ten minute temp ban would shift behavior. Even two minutes may do it.

It is a *warning*, that player x might be banned, if he *frequently* leaves games without resigning.

And from some threads here in the forum, you can conclude that bans actually happen.

Sheckley, actually you are incorrect unless you receive a differing message. It happened again to me today first game. I gain ops Q and he just leaves. Here is the exact message:

Warning, ibn_susamto. Leaving games without resigning will result in a temporary ban.

2 for 2 today, this crap has to change.
