Optimal computer set-up for playing on lichess

I play on a 2gb chromebook. I play bullet/blitz/rapid games. Should I upgrade? Or is this setup suitable for playing on lichess. I use a wired mouse.

Any input welcome.

Thanks.
hardware wise, that should be totally fine. Lichess doesnt exactly have high system requirements.

imo, the bigger concern is ergonomics, especially if you plan to play long sessions or many hours. a tiny screen could cause eye fatigue, and if the placement of the screen isnt great, maybe neck problems too. a nice upgrade would be something like a 27" monitor, placed at the ideal height and distance to reduce eye and neck problems. there are a bunch of articles on this for PC gaming, im sure.

next potential issue is wrist strain and carpal tunnel type of issues. again, for long sessions or many hours, this can add up. you want a comfortable chair with an armrest so that your elbow is supported. this takes a ton of strain off the wrist, and allows you to play longer without problems.

that isnt to say you have to play with that setup all the time. having something portable like a chromebook means you can certainly play on its screen in all kinds of places, whether its public transportation, a couch at a coffee shop whatever. i think thats fine for short sessions or a game here and there, but if you want to play for a few hours a day or more, i totally recommend the monitor and a nice chair to play at a desk.
I have a 10 year old laptop and use MX Linux on it.
The laptop has an English keyboard, but I use a portable comfortable keyboard that is french. When I need, I pressing the Keyboard switcher.

My comfortable Bluetooth mouse which is a Microsoft wireless mouse works fine for me. No more wired mouse for me. My wife uses a 2.4g wireless mouse and fits her small hands. Mine is bigger to fit mine. It's important to us that the mouse fits comfortably in our hands and when we move our mouse, it does not accidentally click a button. Don't want a mouse slip or a slippery mouse.

The only wires connected on my laptop is the internet. I want it connected directly when I'm at home. Not interested in having my WiFi always on.

The laptop is on my desk and I use it as a normal computer. All my games are old games that do not need game hardware. I wear glasses and I'm hard of hearing. I'm comfortable with my old stuff. It blends right in with me. I do plan on buying a Linux based mini PC. It might also have Windows on it, but I want MX Linux as my main operating system. Simply because I like the side bar. It makes sense to me to see the toolbar on the left because the screens are now wide screens.
Thanks Toscani, I guess I am trying to see if getting a better computer with say 8gb ram will help me with Bullet or not.
Right now you are getting trash performance from this Chromebook of yours. You need to boost performance. I highly recommend you buy a workstation with at least 32 Gigs of RAM. You need a 5K ROG monitor and a gaming headset. Remember to use 5G wifi as well. With this, I expect your chess performance will reach 2700 in no time.
(Remember to take a loan.)
You need to get a second monitor to open up chessbase on like half the players
Type about:memory in the address bar.
Close all tabs except the about:memory and the Lichess TV tab.
Press Measure to see the amount of memory it is using.

For me, ram used : 294 MB
