Where are the good places in America to play chess on a daily basis

Hi guys i am thinking of visiting different parts of America where and in what parts of America are the best places to play chess in person on a daily basis? thanks :)
Well, if your really serious about this, my suggestion is to do your own extensive research and not rely too heavily on online suggestions. Of course, members will make great suggestions from personal experience, but best to make advance phone calls and get your questions answered by Club representatives. They will always be willing to help out a visiting player.

Budget, length of stay, mode of transportation all of course are major factors. Google chess clubs through the USCF web site and make personal contacts. Get your maps and phone numbers in order.

A great time is in store if you're properly prepared. St. Louis and New York are the two main centers of chess. Good luck and good chess! *Always a good start to have along items to share or trade from your country.
Also, I would hope your visit does not center around only playing chess. Iconic Chess clubs can be found in most major cities. See America ! Play chess 2nd. Know in advance hours of operation and hopefully have a few contacts to meet.

A great way to travel, if it suits your lifestyle, is to rent a Recreational Vehicle. Often at very affordable prices, especially if someone is sharing expenses.
Thanks i will do some more research and see where it leads :)
The Marshall Chess Center in New York City, the St. Louis Chess Center (currently the Mecca of American Chess), the San Francisco Mechanics' Institute, and the Franklin Mercantile Chess Club in Philadelphia.
All great places to visit as suggested by Duke.
However, I've read often these places charge quite a hefty admission price just to enter the door. Check ahead.
Maybe your tastes are more inclined at finding popular gathering places; public parks, tables at the beaches or coffee houses where you can always find games at no cost. Meet the local crowd so to speak.
You stated you wanted to travel and play chess. The clubs mentioned have membership fees. Members are privileged to free admission. Guests are charged an entry fee. Not necessarily guaranteed a night of chess play. Great historical clubs to visit, but you may not find ongoing chess games except for scheduled days/nights. Paying $25 to look at pictures of BF hanging on the walls is not my idea of good times.
If you make it to the West Coast, a must stop is Santa Monica Pier. Tables align the beach next to the old muscle beach (now in Venice, on down the walkway). SM has an active club, along with Pasadena and a few others.
nice sounds like lots of nice places i try to stay clear of places when you have to pay just to enter the premises paying an entry for a tournament is okay but paying $$ for entry of a building in my opinion is just wrong
