1.e4 or 1.d4?

@fonsecasf I play 1. e3 followed by Nf3 and b3 or play 1. Nf3 or 1. b3. I also like the Queens Indian Defense. But i dont like closed games. The only reason i play 1. e4 is for the King's Gambit.

@A_0123456 Why not f4 then? It is risky, but it is tricky as hell and if you play it well you'll have an edge because almost nobody at amateur level know the defence lines. In my club i have a pal that plays the bird and (grr..) i know that is bad and all but most of the times the attack is so quick and deadly that i can't even develop my game before checkmate.

@fonsecasf 1. f4 leaves you in a bad position after 1... d5. 1. e3 is very flexible, unlike 1. f4.

i don't know the f4 lines but i can assure you that d5 does nothing so critical at all to opponent. Try to play against stockfish from position 1.f4 in a decent level and try to win. I won some games against him, but it is no easy peasy... white has a fulminant attack on king's wing, but as i said, if you feel good with e3... who am i...

1. d4 all the way. I can't stand the Sicilian so I avoid it with everything I have! :D

1. g4 followed by 2. f4 or 2. f3 lol

@Cyteen Play the Alapin sicilian instead of going for the mainlines.
