Best Chess Players (relative to their peers)

@rayquaza
Very sneaky you added Morphy.
Just like MusicKnight said just accept it and move on.
I will leave it to the “officials” to decide if your down vote against Philidor counts or not.

NEXT PERSON PLEASE ELIMINATE MORPHY WHEN YOU VOTE

@rayquaza @lurarose

First thing, people are not voting twice per day. There are people who are monitoring it and it is not to be worried about. If you are blinded by your love for Morphy, then this is not the right attitude and this is not supported on lichess.

Second, this is not true that others are voting for their favorite players. They are voting for the best players relative to their peers. Kasparov, Capablanca, and Fischer were are better than Morphy and better than their peers. They all reigned for a long time and they all should be respected. Please don't be salty about Morphy getting eliminated. All these players were the best of their time at some point and in fact Steinitz and Lasker held the title of best player(s) for the longest time.
Up-vote: Kasparov (really the player who taught me most of the beginner and novice stuff, in one of his awesome books)

Down-vote: Tigran Petrosian, because all the players seem pretty good... (just remember I still respect this player)

Bobby Fischer - 29
Emanuel Lasker - 27
Paul Morphy - 0
Wilhelm Steinitz - 16
Jose Capablanca - 39
Anatoly Karpov - 7
Garry Kasparov - 20
Mikhail Tal - 13
Vishy Anand - 18
Tigran Petrosian - 14
Francois-Andre Philidor - 19

Fischer is winning, he was a great player.
@Musicknight123

Not really, Fischer in particular didn t "reign" for a long time, as he chickened out when Karpov became the challenger, how is that a long reign? Ok, I guess they were stronger than Morphy (though that was not the point of this thread) most of them, not Steinitz who did not even manage to defeat Morphy s best friend Maurian convincingly, but why was Carlsen voted of when he is considered the best player in history based on the raw strength of his moves according to computers? It s easy to see that people are just voting for the player they like, you are sorely mistaken if you believe otherwise.

Also do you have any proof that this thread is monitored and same people can t vote more than once via different account? If so I d like to see it, thank you.
