I have been studying around on the ideas of some new openings, lately it's been English Opening as white pieces and Sicilian Defense as black. I'm seeking a less expected opening at my level (round 1700) yet at least semistrong. Any suggestions? And thank you in advance!
You can try the Center Game as White ie. 1. e4 e5 2. d4, but you may also try London System 1. d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3. Bf4
Try Nimzo Larsen Attack as white. 1. Nf3... 2. b3
Scandinavian Qd6 aa black. 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Qxd5 3. Nc3 Qd6. Good luck!

The Vienna Game is a very useful weapon against unprepared opponents.
Finally, someone who agrees with my favourite opening.
With white, play the Vienna. If black plays correctly, you are fine. If they don't, you are winning. Just learn the all the lines need and you'll be fine.

@iheartpurps : I usually play the king's pawn opening as white and as black the defense against king's pawn opening and rarely the sicilian defense.
