Sufficient Material


This position is illegal. What's Black's last move?
First I'm like, ah, let Sarg0n do another one of these checkmate things.

And then I see that the title is "sufficient material". Indeed, a knight is sufficient mating material against a bishop and king. Not a lone king, but bishop and king, sure.
Black's last move was Bg8 (or g8B), after which white played Ng6#
insufficient material is not a rule.

The rule by FIDE is: "The game is drawn when a position is reached from which a checkmate cannot occur by
any possible series of legal moves. This immediately ends the game, provided that the
move producing this position was legal."
