Since you mentioned the akward placement of the rooks, you should notice that rook on a3 is basically trapped, b5-b4 would win let you win it without any hope chess.
the move 24. g5?? I think it isn't tactic, just a tricky move, that are moves we need not to do, if your opponent fells on it you win if not it stay equal or you get disadvantage, actually b5 was much better than g5?, threatening b4 trapping the, and there isn't much white can do. You had the game won, in that cases every move should win.
